about the orff corner
The Orff Corner is a cozy little space where children can explore music, fall in love with music, and grow through music.
Just like a special nook they can return to again and again, this corner invites them to play, create, and enjoy every moment surrounded by rhythm, melody, and imagination.
The Orff Music Teaching Method, also known as Orff Schulwerk, is an innovative approach to music education developed by German composer Carl Orff and his collaborators in the 20th century.
It emphasizes learning through active participation, combining music, movement, speech, and drama to engage children in a holistic musical experience.
Central to the method is the use of percussion instruments, rhythmic speech, singing, creative movement, and improvisation.
Orff Schulwerk encourages exploration, creativity, and self-expression, making music accessible and enjoyable for learners of all backgrounds and abilities.
about me
Hi! My name is Kayan and I'm a passionate early childhood educator and music lover based in Calgary, Canada, with a deep belief in the power of playful, creative learning. I hold an ECE Level 3 certification and have over 15 years of experience working with young children in nurturing, inclusive environments.
With a strong musical foundation, I’ve achieved ABRSM Grade 8 in both Piano and Singing, and I love bringing music to life in ways that are accessible, engaging, and joyful for little ones.
My Orff-inspired music playgroups combine my love for early childhood education and music, creating a space where children can explore rhythm, melody, movement, and imagination — all while developing important social, emotional, and cognitive skills.
Whether your child is singing, drumming, dancing, or simply listening, my goal is to spark curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of music.
I look forward to making music and memories with your family here in Calgary!
